Superstar Rajinikanth and his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth participated in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by voting at the Stella Maris College for Women. Rajinikanth proudly displayed his inked finger to the media after casting his vote and was escorted to safety by police amid fan frenzy.
Joining the voting trend, actor-politician Kamal Haasan arrived with his daughter Shruti Haasan to cast their votes at the Government School in Teynampet. Other celebrities like Vikram, Gautham Karthik, Ajith, Anirudh Ravichander, and Dhanush also exercised their voting rights at various polling stations across the state.
The ongoing election has attracted a large number of candidates, with a total of 4,023 individuals vying for seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly. The nomination process saw a high turnout, but around 2,460 nominations were rejected during scrutiny due to invalid or incomplete documentation, leading to a reduced candidate pool.
Polling for the Assembly is taking place, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
