The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) took action against food establishments in a citywide food safety enforcement drive. During the operation, three establishments were sealed, 179 kg of stale food was destroyed, and 15 food samples were collected for analysis. The Food Department inspected 92 establishments, issuing notices to 33 for various deficiencies.
Administrative charges amounting to Rs 51,500 were recovered from the non-compliant establishments. Notably, synthetic food colors and non-food-grade substances were found in the preparation of sauces at Shri Khodiyar Chutney, leading to its closure. Rajni Namkeen and Mahadev Nasta House were also sealed for violations related to food safety and hygiene. Additionally, several other establishments faced enforcement actions for operating without valid licenses.
The enforcement drive extended to various parts of Rajkot, targeting businesses for unhygienic practices and non-compliance with food safety regulations. The Food Department collected 15 samples for laboratory examination, focusing on different food products and establishments. Overall, the inspections aimed to combat food adulteration and ensure compliance with safety standards in the city.
