Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Indian War Memorial in Seoul, South Korea, honoring Indian soldiers who served during the Korean War. The memorial, dedicated to the 60 Para Field Ambulance of the Indian Army and the Custodian Force of India, commemorates their courage and sacrifice.
Singh, alongside the Republic of Korea’s Minister of Patriots & Veterans Affairs, unveiled the memorial at Imjingak Park. They laid a wreath and paid respects to the brave Indian soldiers, remembered with deep gratitude by the people of South Korea.
The ceremony, attended by officials, military representatives, veterans, and diplomats from both nations, honored Colonel Rangaraj this month. Singh emphasized India’s enduring legacy of peace efforts on the Korean Peninsula, strengthening the strategic partnership between India and South Korea.
Commemorating the role of Indian troops fosters people-to-people understanding and highlights the historic bonds between the two countries. Singh thanked the Korean government for its support in establishing the memorial, located where ‘HIND NAGAR’ once stood, housing prisoners of war during the Korean War.
The Indian War Memorial signifies a lesser-known chapter of shared India-South Korea history, symbolizing India’s commitment to peace and international cooperation. The inauguration marked the conclusion of Singh’s visit to Vietnam and South Korea.
