The Rajya Sabha faced disruptions and adjourned for the day as chaos prevailed, hindering any discussions when the House reconvened at 5.15 pm. Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh aimed to start a conversation on the National Honour Bill, but the ongoing pandemonium thwarted any progress. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed disappointment over the Opposition’s reluctance to engage in discussions on crucial bills, including the Prevention of Unfair Means Amendment Bill, 2026.

Persistent disruptions marred the proceedings as the government sought to initiate debates on significant legislations in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Despite assurances from the government, including a promise from the Prime Minister for stricter laws, the Opposition continued to disrupt the House. The need for serious discussions on bills like the Paper Leak Bill and The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Amendment Bill, 2026, was emphasized by the minister.

The chaos escalated as Opposition members disregarded appeals for decorum, leading to the adjournment of the House for the day. Despite the readiness of the Opposition to engage in discussions, demands for the Home Minister’s presence to address police actions further fueled the disruptions. The ongoing Monsoon Session witnessed a repeat of disruptions, hampering legislative proceedings in the Upper House.
