The Rajya Sabha faced disruptions and adjournment for nearly an hour after commencing its session due to uproar from the opposition regarding police actions against protesting students at Jantar Mantar. Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue, causing chaos in the House, leading to a swift adjournment by Chairman Radhakrishnan until noon. Prior to the disruption, various members presented papers related to different ministries.
Several members, including Nityanand Rai, B.L.Verma, and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, tabled documents for the Ministries of Home Affairs and Social Justice and Empowerment. Additionally, Sukanta Majumdar, Harsh Malhotra, and Akhilesh Prasad Singh laid papers for the Ministries of Education, Road Transport and Highways, and the reports of the Public Accounts Committee, respectively. The focus then shifted to student protests as Kharge attempted to address the recent incident, leading to further chaos and the eventual adjournment of proceedings by the Chairman.
MP Anil Kumar Yadav Mandadi also presented reports from the department-related Parliamentary standing committee on coal, mines, and steel, while a motion for the election of members to the committee on official language was put forth in the House.
