Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Singh Sahney dismissed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s claim that six of the seven AAP MPs who switched to the BJP have betrayed the state’s people. Sahney, one of the estranged MPs, stated they now have a greater chance to serve Punjab. Notably, six of these former AAP MPs were elected from Punjab.
CM Mann criticized the MPs, calling them traitors and accusing them of joining the BJP to save themselves without working for the people. Sahney, in response, emphasized their commitment to Punjab and its citizens. He mentioned plans to address unemployment, combat drug abuse, and expand skill development centers.
Sahney revealed discussions with Union Ministers Jayant Chaudhary, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Piyush Goyal on various development initiatives for Punjab. He highlighted efforts to enhance skill centers, increase support for crop diversification, and boost export subsidies. Regarding flood relief funds, Sahney expressed confusion over the reported discrepancies between the Punjab government and the Center.
Optimistic about resolving the political turmoil post the MPs’ defection, Sahney hoped for collaboration among all stakeholders to work towards Punjab’s progress.
