Ranchi police have successfully dismantled a cybercrime operation in the Gonda police station area, leading to the apprehension of five individuals. Among the seized items were numerous bank passbooks, debit cards, cheque books, mobile phones, and Aadhaar cards. A case has been filed under No. 68/26 at the Gonda police station, with ongoing investigations.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan disclosed that following a tip-off on the night of May 28, authorities raided a flat in Rock View Apartment near Chandni Chowk in Dhawan Nagar. The raid, led by the Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police, the Gonda SHO, and armed personnel, resulted in the discovery of five suspects in suspicious circumstances.
The search operation uncovered 50 bank passbooks, 26 debit cards, 8 cheque books, 13 mobile phones, and 3 Aadhaar cards, all seized by the police. Interrogations revealed that the accused used fake identity documents to establish bank accounts for perpetrating cyber fraud. The suspects mentioned being trained in cybercrime by an individual known as “Nikhil Bhaiya,” the purported owner of the flat.
Those arrested include individuals from various locations such as Jamtara, Ramgarh, and Bokaro, along with a minor from Ramgarh. The police team involved in the operation comprised Gonda SHO Abhay Kumar Sinha, sub-inspectors Sunny Kumar and Om Prakash Prasad, assistant sub-inspector Ramjanam Prasad, and armed forces personnel. Efforts are now underway to track down the broader network and other fugitives involved.
