The historic Golden City of Jaisalmer recently marked a significant spiritual occasion with the celebration of the sacred ‘Chadar Mahotsav’ of Dada Gurudev Jindatt Surishwar Maharaj. After 144 years, the ceremonial ‘Divine Chadar’ emerged from Jaisalmer Fort, attracting devotees and saints from all over the country. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, present as the chief guest, emphasized the Chadar’s symbolic importance as a living representation of faith and protection for Jaisalmer.
The sacred Chadar, not just a piece of cloth but a revered symbol, was historically believed to have brought relief from a severe epidemic that struck the city 144 years ago. Its reappearance and public display after such a long hiatus offer devotees a chance to reaffirm their spiritual dedication. Minister Shekhawat, speaking on India’s spiritual heritage, underscored the esteemed role of the Guru in Indian philosophy, portraying the Guru as a beacon guiding individuals towards truth and wisdom in life.
Reflecting on the teachings of Dada Guru, the Union Minister praised his life of penance, sacrifice, and devotion, which inspired society to embrace non-violence, restraint, and compassion. He emphasized that religion serves as a pathway to self-improvement, urging people to embrace humility, service, and righteousness in their daily conduct. Shekhawat also honored Jaisalmer’s historical significance as a bastion that defended India against foreign invasions for centuries.
The event witnessed the presence of various religious leaders, including Acharya Jin Man Prabh Sureshwar Maharaj, Acharya Jin Manujya Sagar, and National Saint Vasant Vijay Maharaj. Notable dignitaries such as Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Pokaran MLA Mahant Pratap Puri Maharaj, and others attended the event, signifying a collective revival of knowledge, devotion, and social harmony.
