Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar acknowledged that his team’s batting performance was lacking as they lost by four wickets to the Gujarat Titans in an Indian Premier League 2026 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium. RCB managed to score 155 runs in 19.2 overs, with Devdutt Padikkal top-scoring at 40 and Virat Kohli contributing 28, but a collapse in the middle order affected their chances.
Patidar commented after the match that the total was below par, but he found positivity in how the team bowled and extended the game to 15-16 overs. Gujarat Titans, led by skipper Shubman Gill’s explosive 43 off 18 balls, swiftly chased down the target in 15.5 overs, finishing at 158/6. Patidar credited the early pressure created by Gill during the powerplay.
Despite the initial setback, RCB’s bowlers, especially Bhuvneshwar Kumar with three wickets, managed to briefly regain control. Patidar praised Kumar’s performance, highlighting his experience in the T20 format. He emphasized that the team is taking the tournament one game at a time and not getting distracted by the points table, focusing on playing good cricket.
In support of Gill, Jos Buttler (39) and Rahul Tewatia (27 not out) played crucial roles for the Gujarat Titans in securing a comfortable victory. Arshad Khan shone with the ball for GT, taking 3-22, while Rashid Khan and Jason Holder also contributed with two wickets each to limit RCB’s score.
