Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s head coach, Andy Flower, expressed his joy in acquiring Venkatesh Iyer and lauded his leadership skills for the upcoming IPL 2026. The recent mini-auction witnessed RCB strengthening their squad by adding Venkatesh Iyer, Jacob Duffy, and Mangesh Yadav. Venkatesh Iyer was secured for Rs 7 crore after Kolkata Knight Riders withdrew from the bidding, marking a less intense auction compared to the previous year.
Former India cricketer Anil Kumble highlighted RCB’s key signings, emphasizing their satisfaction in securing Venkatesh Iyer. Additionally, Kumble mentioned that Jacob Duffy would serve as a backup for Josh Hazlewood, while Jordan Cox and Mangesh Yadav were strategic additions to the team. RCB’s deliberate approach post-auction aimed at maintaining squad stability and supporting existing players, as explained by Kumble.
