Rebel Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar stated that 22 party MPs are part of their ‘rebel’ faction, not just 20 as previously reported. The faction, including Kolkata Uttar MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay, is currently in Delhi for a meeting.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is expected to meet with the rebel Trinamool MPs on Monday to receive a letter from them. The faction aims to establish a separate bloc within the party.
While en route to Delhi, Kakoli Ghosh mentioned that two more MPs are set to join their rebel faction. The group, dissatisfied with recent events in West Bengal, seeks to voice their concerns and support the BJP-led NDA government.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari was anticipated to attend the meeting in Delhi but is reportedly absent due to prior commitments. The rebel Trinamool faction is pushing for recognition as a distinct entity within the party.
