The Pahalgam terrorist attack last year revealed an active Pakistan-backed terror network, not a dormant one, as per a report. The report questions why Pakistan’s terror infrastructure continues to expand despite setbacks and India’s actions like Operation Sindoor in early May 2025.
The attack involved armed men executing 26 Hindu tourists near Pahalgam, with evidence linking the incident to Pakistan-based handlers. The report noted that The Resistance Front (TRF), established in 2019 as an LeT proxy, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Designated as a ‘Foreign Terrorist Organisation’ by the US, TRF is seen as a front for LeT, responsible for major attacks in India. Despite international designations, Pakistan’s jihadist network has shown assertiveness, with groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad forming new wings.
The consequences of Pakistan’s terror activities are felt globally, with the country ranked as the most terrorism-affected in the world. The report urges global bodies and partners to impose costs on Pakistan based on documented evidence to combat terrorism effectively.
