The rescue operation at Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg ski resort, where around 300 passengers were stranded in cable car cabins, has successfully concluded. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and senior police officials oversaw the operation, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers. The effort involved the Army, SDRF, local residents, and police, with all individuals brought down safely.
Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary, acting on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s instructions, confirmed the completion of the rescue operation at Gulmarg. He reassured that all 260 tourists in the 63 cabins were evacuated without any incidents. The involvement of various agencies and local support was crucial in the successful rescue mission, with all individuals descending on foot due to challenging terrain.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha monitored the rescue operation closely after tourists were stranded in cable car cabins due to a technical fault at Gulmarg. Joint rescue teams, including police, Army, and SDRF, worked diligently to ensure the safety of all tourists. Managing Director Syed Qamar Sajjad of the Cable Car Corporation clarified that the incident was a technical glitch, emphasizing that the situation was under control.
