A team from the Department of Archaeology faced chaos and panic during a research expedition in Singhanpur Cave, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. While working on preserving prehistoric rock paintings, the team accidentally disturbed a beehive, leading to a swarm of bees trapping them inside the cave. Several researchers sustained injuries in the attempt to escape the aggressive bees.
Local emergency services and villagers came to their aid, evacuating the injured team members and providing necessary medical assistance. Despite suffering from bee stings and allergic reactions, all affected individuals are stable and receiving treatment. Singhanpur Cave is famous for its ancient rock shelters and wall paintings, attracting academic expeditions regularly.
Authorities have temporarily closed off specific cave chambers and plan to relocate the beehives to ensure the safety of future visitors and researchers.
