The resignation of Rajya Sabha MP, Raghav Chadha, and six other MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join the BJP has stirred strong reactions. Social activist Anna Hazare highlighted that such moves are a part of democratic freedom. Hazare noted that leaders leaving a party likely indicate underlying concerns and issues within the party’s functioning.
On the other hand, BJP leaders have supported the move, viewing it as a vote of confidence in the party’s leadership and policies. BJP Bihar President Sanjay Saraogi attributed this trend to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the governance model of the party. He mentioned that individuals who believe in the Prime Minister’s work and BJP’s policies are increasingly showing interest in joining the party.
Senior BJP leader Ram Kripal Yadav criticized AAP, accusing it of deviating from its original principles. He expressed disappointment in the party’s shift from its initial stance of supporting the poor and oppressed. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala launched a scathing attack, alleging that AAP has become more centralized and strayed from its core values.
JD(U) National Spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan condemned the treatment of Raghav Chadha within AAP, labeling it as unfortunate. He highlighted Chadha’s role as a trusted advisor and strategist for Arvind Kejriwal, emphasizing that Kejriwal’s neglect of loyal leaders is now resulting in repercussions. Congress leader Abhishek Dutt speculated on a potential merger of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP into the BJP, questioning Kejriwal’s handling of dissent within the party.
