Restoration work on the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) at the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery in Pachpadra, Rajasthan, is moving ahead swiftly. Scheduled to start from June 1, commissioning activities are in progress following a recent high-level review meeting. The meeting, led by Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, included officials from the state government, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), and HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL).
Significant progress updates were shared during the review, focusing on the status of the CDU restoration and the overall advancement of the integrated refinery and petrochemical project. HPCL officials confirmed that the CDU restoration is on track and nearing completion. Operations are set to kick off on June 1, with the refinery expected to begin supplying petroleum products in the upcoming weeks.
The review highlighted advancements in commissioning other crucial refinery units like the Diesel Hydrotreating Unit (DHDT), Propylene Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (PFCCU), Delayed Coking Unit (DCU), and the Motor Spirit Block (MS Block). These units are also close to being operationally ready, as per the officials.
Rajasthan’s Chief Secretary, V. Srinivas, emphasized that the refinery’s operational launch will significantly enhance industrial growth and economic activities in the region. He underlined the project’s potential to bolster Rajasthan’s standing in India’s energy sector, creating job opportunities and attracting investments. The Pachpadra refinery project, a key industrial initiative in Rajasthan, holds strategic importance for petroleum refining and petrochemical production in Western India.
Upon full operation, the refinery is anticipated to play a vital role in fuel supply and downstream industrial expansion. Officials expressed optimism that the remaining tasks will be finished as planned, paving the way for a phased commencement of refinery operations in the near future.
