A retired district judge, Giribala Singh, had her bail application denied by a special CBI court in Bhopal. The court, after considering arguments from both the defence and the CBI, found the allegations against Singh to be serious. The defence had requested bail on humanitarian grounds due to Singh’s age, health issues, and family responsibilities.
The CBI opposed the bail plea, emphasizing that the seriousness of the allegations should be the deciding factor. The court, presided over by Special CBI Judge Ram Pratap Mishra, had reserved its verdict after hearing arguments from both sides on Friday. The decision to reject the bail application was made on Saturday evening.
The case involved the suspicious death of Twisha Sharma, who was allegedly a victim of continuous dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws. Following dissatisfaction with the initial police investigation, the Madhya Pradesh High Court transferred the case to the CBI. Giribala Singh and her advocate son, Samarth Singh, were subsequently arrested by the CBI and are currently in judicial custody.
