A road rage incident in Bihar’s Siwan on Wednesday evening has shocked the city residents. The altercation near the Laxmipur Andar Dhala overbridge, under the Town Police Station’s jurisdiction, resulted in a violent shootout. Harsh Kumar Singh, the nephew of BJP leader Manoj Kumar Singh, lost his life, while another individual was left critically injured.
According to the SHO of Nagar police station, Chandan Singh and his son, Harsh Kumar Singh, were on their way to a Tilak ceremony when their vehicle was involved in a minor collision with another car around 6:30 p.m. What started as a minor argument quickly escalated into a fatal confrontation. Eyewitnesses reported that the accused individuals fired shots indiscriminately during the dispute.
Harsh Kumar Singh succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on the spot, while Chandan Singh, also shot, sustained severe injuries. He received initial medical attention and was later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment due to the critical nature of his injuries. The incident caused panic in the area, with locals seeking safety as chaos unfolded.
Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), arrived at the scene promptly upon receiving information and initiated an investigation. The SHO mentioned that the accused have been identified, and efforts are underway to swiftly apprehend them. The deceased’s body was recovered from the crime scene and sent for post-mortem examination.
This tragic event has once again highlighted the concerning law and order situation in Siwan, where even minor disputes are turning increasingly violent and, in this instance, fatal. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm, assuring that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators.
