Delhi’s Rohit Baisoya took the Round One lead at the INR 25 lakh Alpha Sports Academy Golf Championship 2026 in Patna by shooting a remarkable seven-under 65. Bipin Mukhiya and Manoviraj Shekhawat were tied for second place with scores of 68. Vinay Kumar Yadav, the winner of the previous NexGen event, achieved a hole-in-one and secured a tied ninth position with a round of 72. Local professional Md Nawab stood tied fourth after carding a 70.
The Patna Golf Club, hosting the championship, features a par-72 nine-hole course where each nine holes are played twice to complete a round. Baisoya’s impressive performance included four birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, followed by an eagle and three birdies on the back nine. Notably, he made an eagle by chipping in from a bunker and showcased exceptional bunker shots for birdies on the 12th and 14th holes.
Baisoya expressed his satisfaction, highlighting his success on the Par-5s and emphasizing the importance of hitting fairways on this course. The NexGen Tour, initiated by the PGTI last year, aims to provide equal opportunities to Indian professional golfers and enhance the sport’s competitiveness and standards. The tour also seeks to expand golf to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India, promoting wider participation.
The NexGen 2026 season commenced with the Aravalli Golf Club event in Faridabad, where Abhishek Kumar secured victory with a remarkable eight-under 64 in the final round. Subsequent events included the NexGen Phillaur Open 2026 and the Lucknow Golf Club event, with each tournament offering an increased prize purse of INR 25 lakh. The tour’s objective is to elevate Indian golf by nurturing talent and broadening the sport’s reach within the country.
