Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has expressed his gratitude for being awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s top civilian honors. He described it as a special moment for himself and his family, emphasizing his commitment to continue winning matches for India.

Rohit Sharma thanked the Government of India and all those who supported him throughout his cricketing journey, considering the Padma Shri as a significant recognition. In a video shared by Doordarshan Sports, he expressed his gratitude and stated his determination to contribute to India’s victories.

Having made his international debut in 2007, Rohit Sharma has been a consistent performer for India across different formats for nearly two decades. He has made a notable impact on Indian cricket, excelling both as a batsman and a captain.

Under Rohit’s captaincy, India achieved notable success on the global stage, winning the T20 World Cup in 2024 and the Champions Trophy in 2025. These victories have further solidified Rohit’s reputation as a successful leader in cricket.

Rohit Sharma’s impressive batting record includes over 4,300 runs in Tests with 12 centuries, more than 11,500 runs in One-Day Internationals with 33 hundreds, and over 4,231 runs in T20 Internationals with five centuries. Although he has retired from Test and T20I formats, he continues to play ODIs with the goal of participating in the 2027 World Cup.
