Roundglass Hockey Academy (RGHA) girls’ team clinched the Bholath Hockey Cup 2026 (Women) championship by defeating Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Amritsar 5-1 in the final at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar. Led by captain Baljeet Kaur, the academy girls dominated the game from the start, securing a 1-0 lead in the first quarter and extending it just before halftime. A remarkable three-goal spree in the third quarter solidified their victory, showcasing their strong offense and teamwork. Despite a late goal from GNDU Amritsar in the final quarter, Roundglass maintained control to secure a 5-1 win.
In the semifinals, Roundglass overcame BSF Jalandhar with a 3-1 victory after establishing a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes through penalty corner conversions and sealing the match with a field goal in the 50th minute. The team’s performance in the Bholath Hockey Cup adds to their successful run this year, emphasizing the progress of the young athletes and the effectiveness of Roundglass’ talent development program in Punjab.
The tournament also saw Petroleum Sports Control Board (PSCB) Mumbai and Indian Navy Mumbai progressing to the semifinals. Players like Mohanbir Bal, Gurjit Singh Patti, Australia, and Parminder Sandhu participated in the quarterfinal matches on the first day of the competition at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar.
