A disturbance unfolded at NMIMS Deemed-to-be University in Indore following rumors surrounding a student event. Anshuman Jaswal, the institute’s Director, clarified that the chaos stemmed from misinformation about the program. A group claiming to collect donations for a cultural event was turned away as they lacked approval.
Jaswal explained that the event in question was a small student-led initiative, with no involvement from staff members. Contrary to rumors, there was no grand event with an entry fee of Rs 2,000. The false information attracted members of an organization to the campus.
In response to queries about police involvement, Jaswal highlighted that the event was not significant enough to warrant police notification. He mentioned that for larger events, including the annual fest, the police are informed both verbally and in writing.
Videos captured around 50 individuals, some armed with sticks, causing damage on campus premises. The situation escalated with arguments involving faculty members and law enforcement. Following this, some individuals sat at the college entrance chanting the Hanuman Chalisa.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishna Lalchandani confirmed that an organization’s members had disrupted the campus. An investigation is underway, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage and videos to take appropriate legal action.
