Russian air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 144 Ukrainian drones during an aerial attack in the Leningrad region, as confirmed by regional Governor Alexander Drozdenko. The attack resulted in minor damage to residential buildings due to falling drone debris, with a fire breaking out at a Russian Defence Ministry facility in the Lomonosovsky district. Fortunately, no major damage was reported, and the fire was extinguished after emergency recovery efforts.
Three individuals sustained minor injuries in a separate Ukrainian drone attack on St. Petersburg, according to the city’s Governor Alexander Beglov. These individuals have since been treated and discharged from the hospital. This incident marked the second significant drone assault on St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Additionally, a Ukrainian drone attack triggered a fire at an oil depot in Ust-Labinsk, Russia’s Krasnodar region, leading to the evacuation of sixty nearby residents. Thankfully, no casualties were reported in this incident. The Russian Defence Ministry disclosed that a total of 376 Ukrainian UAVs were intercepted and destroyed across various regions overnight.
Residents in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region reported hearing powerful sonic impacts resembling explosions following the drone attacks. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s invitation for a meeting to end the conflict in Ukraine did not persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin, who currently ruled out a face-to-face meeting with the Kyiv leader.
