Russia’s presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might visit Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin upon making significant decisions. Peskov’s comments were made in response to Zelensky’s proposal to meet Putin in Kostiantynivka. Putin, on the other hand, expressed readiness to host Zelensky in Moscow, emphasizing that it is the capital of Russia.
Zelensky had earlier refuted Putin’s claim that Russian forces had taken control of Kostiantynivka and had invited Putin to meet him there. In a statement, Zelensky criticized Putin for spreading misinformation and invited him to engage in diplomatic discussions to end the conflict. Putin, however, stated last month that he saw no reason to meet Zelensky, emphasizing the need for a peace agreement before a potential meeting.
Zelensky, in an open letter to Putin, proposed direct discussions to resolve the ongoing conflict. He suggested involving Switzerland, Turkey, and Arab countries in hosting talks to address outstanding issues. The invitation for dialogue comes amidst escalating tensions between the two nations over the conflict in Eastern Europe.
