Sahibzada Farhan, aged 30, will captain the Pakistan cricket team at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4. Farhan, having played 46 T20Is for Pakistan, has scored 1,305 runs with two centuries and 10 half-centuries. Abdul Samad, with five T20I appearances, will serve as the vice-captain.
Among the 15-member squad announced, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat, and Saad Masood are the four players who have not yet featured in a T20I for Pakistan. Notably, 14 out of the 15 players selected for the Asian Games squad are part of the National Cricket Academy’s White-Ball Camp, commencing in Lahore on June 15 until June 18.
The cricket competition at the Asian Games will adopt a T20 format and involve 10 teams at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture. The men’s cricket tournament is set to kick off on September 24, with medal matches scheduled for October 3. The Pakistan Cricket Board has disclosed that 49 players will take part in the NCA’s Red-Ball and White-Ball camps to gear up for upcoming competitions.
During these camps, players will receive training under the supervision of National and NCA coaches, along with PCB Medical staff, emphasizing skill enhancement and fitness. Each player will also undergo individual sessions with coaches to enhance their skills and fitness levels required for international competitions.
