The head of Samsung Electronics Co.’s mobile business, Roh Tae-moon, expressed confidence in the company’s foldable technology. Samsung recently unveiled three Galaxy Z foldable smartphones powered by Alphabet Inc.’s Gemini artificial intelligence, expanding its lineup since 2019.
With Apple expected to launch a similar foldable iPhone design in September, competition in the foldable smartphone market is heating up. Roh stated that foldables have matured both technologically and in the market, becoming mainstream products with a growing market.
Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones have been instrumental in pioneering the foldable market and making the experience accessible to consumers. Despite rising costs, Samsung opted to offer lower prices for its new foldable smartphones in South Korea, prioritizing the domestic market.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8 will be released in South Korea and globally from August 7 onwards, with preorders in South Korea running from next Tuesday to August 3.
