Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, after facing criticism for a song’s alleged indecent portrayal of women, has pledged to support the education of 50 tribal girls. Dutt apologized for any unintended harm caused by the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ and emphasized the need for responsible depiction of women in creative works.
The song in question faced backlash for its suggestive content, leading to legal complaints and demands for a ban due to concerns about its impact on minors and public decency. Following the uproar, the track was reportedly removed from YouTube. During the proceedings, the National Commission for Women raised concerns regarding knowledge, intent, and accountability in such matters.
Sanjay Dutt assured the commission of incorporating legal due diligence clauses in his future agreements to ensure respectful representation of women and children in films. Actress Nora Fatehi, also involved in the issue, requested a rescheduled appearance before the commission as she was out of the country. The commission stressed the importance of upholding women’s dignity in creative endeavors and received written apologies from those involved in the controversy.
