Marking the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, V. K. Sasikala hinted at revealing the next phase of her political journey, sparking fresh speculation in Tamil Nadu’s political circles.
Sasikala, a longtime confidante of Jayalalithaa, wielded significant influence behind the scenes during the AIADMK leader’s tenure. After Jayalalithaa’s passing in 2016, Sasikala entered active politics and assumed the role of General Secretary of the AIADMK.
Despite being on the verge of becoming Chief Minister, Sasikala faced opposition from then Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, leading to her conviction in a corruption case and subsequent imprisonment. Upon her release in 2021, she found herself marginalized within the AIADMK.
Recently, Sasikala has been engaging with her supporters and former AIADMK members, hinting at a potential return to electoral politics. Her upcoming announcement in Pasumpon is anticipated to have far-reaching implications for Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
