SBICAPS has been chosen to conduct a thorough assessment of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-I’s value, Phase-II development, and related matters. The study will include evaluating Phase-I’s worth, securing necessary loans for acquisition, and identifying lending institutions. This decision was made during a meeting between Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Union Minister for Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar, and Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy in New Delhi.
The discussions between the Chief Minister and the Central ministers regarding the takeover of Metro Rail Phase-I and the proposed Phase-II were termed ‘productive’ by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). Following a meeting with Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Revanth Reddy and Kishan Reddy met to address the challenges in acquiring Metro Rail Phase-I and launching Phase-II.
The Chief Minister highlighted the obstacles faced in taking over Metro Rail Phase-I and initiating the second phase to the Union Ministers. A consensus was reached during the Tuesday meeting to appoint a consultant. The state government and the Centre will determine the next steps based on the consultant’s report.
To expedite the study and official processes, a senior official from the Union government and the Special Chief Secretary of the State Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department will coordinate. The collaboration aims to ensure the swift completion of the study and related procedures.
