Several schools in Ahmedabad were put on high alert following bomb threats received via emails from an unknown source. The threats targeted various educational institutions in different parts of the city, leading to swift responses from law enforcement agencies. Police officials disclosed that schools like St Xavier’s School, Calorex School, DPS School, Swayam School, Sant Kabir School branches, and others were named in the threatening emails.
Earlier on the same day, St Xavier’s Loyola and Swayam School also reported bomb threats, escalating the situation. Upon receiving the emails, school authorities promptly notified the police control room. To address the threats seriously, teams comprising city police, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and crime branch were dispatched to the affected schools for comprehensive security checks.
In response to the situation, school managements took precautionary measures by informing parents through messages and calls to pick up their children. This resulted in a rush of parents to the school premises, causing temporary panic in various areas. Authorities highlighted that the emails were sent from an unidentified email ID, prompting the cybercrime department to initiate an investigation to track the sender.
Citizens have been advised to stay calm, refrain from spreading rumors, and report any suspicious activities to the police. Notably, Ahmedabad has previously experienced similar email-based bomb threats targeting schools and courts, many of which were later confirmed as hoaxes. Security agencies are maintaining vigilance as investigations progress.
