A scrap dealer was found murdered in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, with his body tied to a stone and thrown into the Karo River. The discovery of the body in the river has raised concerns in the area.
Local residents noticed the body floating in the river and observed that it had been fastened to a large stone to prevent it from surfacing. Upon receiving the information, authorities from the Gua police station, along with villagers, recovered the body from the river.
The victim, identified as Kurman Sheikh from West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, was involved in the scrap business in Chaibasa’s Gua area. His body has been sent for a postmortem examination, and the police have initiated a murder investigation.
Investigators discovered that the victim’s roommate, Altaf Sheikh, had departed for Murshidabad the day before the incident. Kurman Sheikh was last seen in the local market on Saturday evening, prompting authorities to delve into the events leading to his death.
Police are interrogating locals, gathering evidence from the crime scene vicinity, and scrutinizing the victim’s recent interactions and business transactions as part of their inquiries. Further actions will be determined based on the postmortem report and the ongoing investigation.
