Seattle University and the Consulate General of India in Seattle organized a briefing session on the AI India Impact Summit 2026. The event, held at the Casey Commons Conference Hall, focused on India’s use of artificial intelligence for social good and inclusive economic growth. Students and faculty gathered to discuss India’s AI strategy centered around sustainable development goals.
The summit, themed “People, Planet, and Progress,” highlighted India’s expanding AI ecosystem and its emphasis on sustainable growth and economic inclusivity. The session aimed to familiarize attendees with India’s evolving role in global AI policy and innovation. Matt Oppenheimer, CEO of Remitly, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the company’s investments in India’s AI future and its operations in Bengaluru.
Professor Onur Bakiner from Seattle University addressed the audience on the challenges and opportunities arising from rapid AI advancements. The Consul General of India in Seattle shared details about the upcoming AI India Impact Summit 2026 and the delegation from the Greater Seattle area expected to participate. This event was part of a series of briefings leading up to the summit, with the previous session held on November 7, 2025, for US Congress members and tech executives.
The AI India Impact Summit aims to convene policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and civil society groups to discuss the responsible and inclusive deployment of artificial intelligence.
