Legislative Department and Department of Legal Affairs Secretary Rajiv Mani emphasized the need for consistent legislative drafting nationwide to ensure smooth implementation. Speaking at the 36th Basic Course in Legislative Drafting organized by the Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research (ILDR), Mani highlighted the importance of standardization for effective enforcement.

The course, running from July 22 to September 25, has gathered 18 trainee officers from 13 states and one Union Territory. The event’s inaugural session, graced by Additional Secretary and Course Director Manoj Kumar, aimed to enhance participants’ grasp of drafting principles and practical skills in legislative instruments.

With a focus on promoting uniformity, precision, and excellence in legislative drafting, the program seeks to bolster the drafting capabilities of states and Union Territories. Secretary Mani previously outlined the Ministry’s vision for a modern legal ecosystem during a conclave in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, emphasizing the goal of strengthening governance and advancing the national vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047.”

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, inaugurated the Reform Utsav and Chintan Shivir on July 4. The event centered on discussions around legal, legislative, and institutional reforms to develop a technology-driven and citizen-centric legal framework.
