Security was tightened at the Civil Court in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, following an anonymous email warning of a bomb inside the premises. The District Judge and senior police officials were promptly informed about the threat during court hours. As a precautionary measure, the entire court complex was evacuated, ensuring the safety of lawyers, litigants, staff, and visitors.
Police, along with dog squads and bomb disposal teams, conducted a thorough search operation after sealing all entry and exit points of the court. Various areas within the court premises, including courtrooms, judges’ chambers, and parking lots, were meticulously scanned. Despite extensive combing, no suspicious items or explosives were discovered, although authorities treated the threat seriously.
This incident is part of a series of recent bomb threats directed at courts and administrative buildings in Jharkhand. On February 12, a similar threat was made to the Ranchi Collectorate, claiming the presence of an explosive device. Despite the warning, no explosives were found after a detailed search. Earlier, on February 6, the Ranchi civil court also received a bomb threat via email, which led to security agencies conducting searches without finding any dangerous items.
In response to the recurring threats, the police have activated the cyber cell to trace the source of the emails. Investigations are ongoing to identify IP addresses, servers, and other digital traces associated with the messages. Authorities are exploring potential links between the recent threats and have implemented heightened security measures at key judicial and administrative sites across the state to prevent any untoward incidents.
