Extensive security measures have been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir for the NEET (UG) re-test scheduled for Sunday. In preparation for the exam, authorities have decentralized test centers to minimize travel and halted classes in certain institutions. Sixty higher secondary schools in the Kashmir Valley have suspended regular classwork to aid students in their test preparations. While no statewide closures have been announced for the Jammu division, exam centers have been set up in various districts like Jammu, Srinagar, Anantnag, and others to reduce long-distance travel. District administrations have ensured compliance with National Testing Agency (NTA) guidelines by reviewing surveillance systems, strong rooms, and CCTV protocols to uphold the exam’s integrity. Candidates are advised to strictly adhere to the reporting time on their admit cards and bring necessary documents like the NEET Admit Card, photo ID, and passport-size photos. Following NTA dress code guidelines is mandatory, and candidates should arrive at the exam centers at least an hour before the reporting time. The NTA has pledged to maintain transparency and fairness in the medical admission process during the NEET UG re-examination. This re-test was necessitated by the cancellation of the original exam on May 3 due to allegations of question paper leaks and irregularities. Investigations revealed the distribution of a “guess paper” with identical questions before the test, compromising its integrity. The cancellation decision was made to safeguard the credibility of the national examination system, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting a thorough inquiry into the matter.
