Security forces in Srinagar carried out anti-sabotage operations near key installations to enhance security measures and address potential threats. The operations, conducted in areas like Maharaja Bazaar and Amira Kadal, aimed to secure Bakshi Stadium, a prominent venue for national celebrations. These measures are part of routine drills ahead of Republic Day and Independence Day to prevent any disruptions by terrorists during official events.

The joint efforts of police and the Central Reserve Police Force focused on strengthening security around vital installations and sensitive areas in Srinagar’s North Zone. The exercise included thorough checks, sanitization of identified locations, and a review of existing security protocols to ensure public safety. Similar security drills were also carried out in certain areas of Anantnag district.

Since 2019, with J&K under direct central control post the removal of Article 370, public participation in official functions on national holidays has increased significantly. Unlike before, separatists no longer call for boycotts or blackouts on Republic Day and Independence Day events.
