Massive joint operations by Central and state security forces are ongoing in Manipur’s Ukhrul district to apprehend those responsible for the recent killing of two Assam Rifles personnel. The victims, Warrant Officer Balwant Singh and Havildar Chandra Mohan Singh, were attacked by a suspected Naga armed group along the Imphal-Dimapur National Highway.
Following the deadly ambush, security forces have intensified efforts to combat insurgency in the region. The National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) has denied involvement in the attack, emphasizing its commitment to the ceasefire agreement with the Central government.
In separate operations, security personnel have made arrests and seized weapons from militants in various districts of Manipur. These actions are part of sustained measures to ensure public safety and prevent militant activities in the state.
Authorities have implemented stringent security measures, including checkpoints and area domination exercises, to curb illegal activities and maintain peace in Manipur. Security forces are also providing escorts to essential commodity vehicles to safeguard transportation along key highways in the region.
