Security forces in Manipur have detained four hardcore militants from various insurgent groups and a female drug trafficker within the last 24 hours. The arrests were made as part of intensified operations against insurgency and narcotics trafficking in the state. The militants were associated with outfits like Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), and United Kuki National Army (UKNA).

During separate operations in Imphal East, Bishnupur, and Tengnoupal districts, the security forces apprehended the individuals. Among the seized items was a 9mm pistol with a magazine and 11 live rounds of ammunition of different calibers found in the possession of the arrested KYKL militant, Mayanglambam Tomba Singh alias Lakpa (39). This militant was reportedly linked to an explosion at a petrol pump in Moirang previously.

The arrested UKNA militant, S. Palal Kuki alias Lalboi Singson, who serves as the outfit’s Finance Head, has allegedly been involved in multiple incidents of firing and extortion. Additionally, Manipur Police detained T.H. Kaoni, a proclaimed offender wanted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Patna, following a request from the agency. The accused was later handed over to the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch in Imphal.

Authorities also arrested a woman drug trafficker, identified as Leila (30), from Thoubal district. During the operation, the police confiscated 10 soap cases containing 389 grams of heroin from her possession. Security forces, including both Central and state agencies, are conducting extensive crackdowns on militants with search operations and area domination exercises ongoing in various areas across Manipur.

A total of 112 nakas and checkpoints have been set up in both valley and hill districts of Manipur to restrict the movement of militants and suspicious vehicles. Escorts are being provided to vehicles, including those transporting essential goods, along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37). Strict security measures and convoy protection are being maintained on vulnerable stretches of the highway to ensure safe vehicle movement.

Manipur Police have urged the public to stay vigilant against fake news and misinformation circulating on social media platforms.
