The security forces, in joint operations, discovered 27 country-made bombs, along with arms and ammunition, and apprehended two militants from a banned group in Manipur within the last 24 hours. These operations took place in areas near Monglham village and Langdum Nungjengbi in Imphal East district. The recovered items included various weapons like pistols, guns, grenades, ammunition rounds, and other related equipment.
Police are still investigating the individuals or organizations responsible for placing the bombs in the village. Despite this, the security forces successfully neutralized the explosives, ensuring the safety of the area. Additionally, two members of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup outfit were arrested in Thoubal district during these security operations. The crackdown on militants continues with extensive search operations and area domination drives in vulnerable regions across Manipur.
To enhance security measures, a significant number of nakas/checkpoints have been established throughout Manipur, both in valley and hill districts, to prevent the illicit movement of suspicious elements and vehicles. Moreover, security forces are providing escorts to vehicles, particularly trucks carrying essential goods, along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37). Stringent security protocols and convoy protection are being maintained in critical areas to facilitate safe vehicle movements.
The Manipur Police have issued a cautionary message to the public, advising them to disregard rumors and be cautious of fake content circulating on social media platforms. They emphasized the importance of verifying the authenticity of any dubious videos or audio clips through the Central Control Room to avoid legal repercussions. Furthermore, the police urged individuals to promptly return any stolen arms, ammunition, or explosives to the authorities or nearby security forces.
