Security measures have been heightened in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations. The main event in Jammu will be attended by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, while in Srinagar, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary will preside over the function at Bakshi Stadium.
Various security forces and organizations, along with schoolchildren, will participate in the Republic Day parades in both Jammu and Srinagar. Cultural programs showcasing development in the region will follow the flag hoisting ceremonies. Similar celebrations will take place in all district headquarters across Jammu and Kashmir.
Stringent security protocols, including human intelligence, electronic surveillance, and aerial reconnaissance, are being implemented in Srinagar and Jammu. Security personnel are ensuring a smooth process without causing inconvenience to the public, maintaining a friendly atmosphere during security checks.
In the past, separatists would call for shutdowns and protests on Republic Day. However, with improved security and control over terrorism, such calls have diminished. Citizens are now actively participating in national celebrations, with official buildings and landmarks illuminated to mark the occasion.
