A self-proclaimed ‘godman’ in Yadgir faces accusations of misbehaving with a minor girl after a video of the incident circulated on social media. The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) has taken action by registering a case and filing a complaint with the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Yadgir. The accused, Mallikarjun Mutya, aged 25-26, is currently on the run to avoid arrest after an FIR was lodged against him.
The viral video allegedly shows Mallikarjun Mutya behaving inappropriately with a child seated on his lap, including dragging her across a table and hugging and kissing her forcefully. Following a complaint from the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Shahapur taluk, a case has been filed under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act at the Gogi Police Station. The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) has directed the SP to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
The accused’s family has defended him, claiming the child is a distant relative and that his actions were meant to show affection. They assert that the video, initially intended to capture a moment of love, was misinterpreted by the public after being shared on social media. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident, which has sparked public outrage and demands for swift action.
