Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka accused the Congress of hindering the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka, alleging concerns about losing support from “Bangladeshi Muslim voters.” Ashoka claimed over 10 lakh Bangladeshi nationals resided in Karnataka and challenged anyone to refute his statement. He highlighted instances of deportations and emphasized the SIR’s potential impact on addressing the issue.
Ashoka reassured genuine voters that the revision process would involve representatives from major political parties at every polling booth to prevent any wrongful deletions. He criticized the Congress for allegedly relying on Bangladeshi Muslim votes for electoral victories and expressed confidence that the SIR would disrupt this strategy. Additionally, he drew comparisons to West Bengal’s electoral roll revisions and accused the Congress of facilitating the stay of Bangladeshi residents in Karnataka.
The BJP leader shifted focus to the Siddaramaiah-led government, accusing it of neglecting welfare beneficiaries while celebrating its achievements. Ashoka questioned the government’s priorities, citing alleged failures in disbursing funds under various schemes and pensions. He also criticized the government’s handling of civic administration in Bengaluru, highlighting corruption allegations and price hikes in essential commodities. Ashoka defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi against criticism on fuel price hikes and outlined the BJP’s plans for property tax simplification if elected.
