Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka raised concerns about irregularities in Karnataka’s Gruha Lakshmi scheme, citing findings from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). Ashoka criticized the state government’s “guarantee model” as a “Graft-antee Model,” alleging financial irregularities and administrative lapses in the scheme’s implementation.
According to Ashoka, around Rs 46.52 crore was disbursed without capturing beneficiaries’ bank account details. He also highlighted that 19,020 beneficiaries were linked to the same bank account numbers, suggesting potential ghost beneficiaries and fraudulent activities.
Ashoka further pointed out that over 10 lakh beneficiary records were altered multiple times, raising concerns about the scheme’s transparency and accountability. He criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for promoting Karnataka’s welfare programs as a governance model, despite the reported flaws in the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.
The BJP leader called for a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities, emphasizing the need for accountability and the prevention of public fund misuse. Ashoka demanded answers regarding the financial discrepancies and urged for corrective actions to address the systemic failures in the scheme’s administration.
