Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka accused the Karnataka government of misusing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process by issuing Permanent Resident Certificates, claiming it poses a threat to national security. Ashoka emphasized that the SIR process should be halted immediately to prevent further complications. He highlighted that the process was intended to grant voting rights exclusively to Indian citizens and criticized the state government for allegedly manipulating it.
Ashoka expressed concerns over the issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates after many years of Independence, questioning the need for such certificates and raising issues regarding national security. He alleged that the government’s actions were a ploy to appease minorities and criticized the state’s handling of citizenship matters. Ashoka stressed that granting citizenship authority solely lies with the Central Government and warned against the repercussions of deviating from this protocol.
The BJP leader further criticized the Karnataka government for its handling of drought-related issues, accusing them of seeking funds from the Centre without conducting necessary surveys or providing essential details. Ashoka highlighted the importance of a responsible approach in dealing with drought-affected areas and urged Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to address the challenges faced by farmers in regions like Chamarajanagar and Mysuru. He also raised concerns about water management and agricultural policies in the state, alleging discrepancies and lack of support for farmers.
