Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition R Ashoka raised concerns about the Karnataka government’s accountability on various issues. He emphasized the need for state governments to uphold similar standards of political and administrative responsibility as Union Ministers. Ashoka specifically pointed out incidents in Karnataka that require moral and administrative accountability.
Referring to the controversy surrounding the recruitment of veterinary officers by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), Ashoka highlighted reports of an alleged ₹80 lakh deal for a single post. He called for a thorough, independent investigation into these allegations to ensure transparency and accountability.
Ashoka also addressed the stampede during the IPL victory celebrations, which resulted in the loss of 11 lives. He questioned who would take responsibility for the tragic incident and emphasized the importance of delivering justice to the affected families.
The Leader of the Opposition further alleged a high number of farmer suicides during the Congress government’s tenure and highlighted cases of borrowers resorting to suicide due to alleged exploitative microfinance practices. Ashoka stressed the significance of governments accepting accountability for their actions and ensuring transparency in governance to regain public trust.
