Senior Congress leader and former minister T. Jeevan Reddy resigned from the party after over four decades, stating he faced humiliation despite his dedicated service. Reddy announced his resignation in Jagtial town, ending his 42-year association with the party. Despite efforts from the Congress leadership to dissuade him, Reddy proceeded with his decision and sent a resignation letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Jeevan Reddy expressed that he felt compelled to resign due to the party’s treatment, accusing the leadership of favoring defected MLAs over loyal party members. He criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and other leaders, emphasizing the neglect of party cadres. Reddy highlighted his concerns in a letter in October 2024, but no actions were taken to address them.
The senior leader also mentioned the lack of condolences from the Chief Minister regarding the murder of one of his followers, further fueling his decision to resign. Despite not disclosing his future plans, Reddy vowed to oppose the Chief Minister. His resignation was attributed to the increasing interference of defected MLAs in party affairs, with warnings of potential repercussions at the national level for the Congress party.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud and other leaders attempted to persuade Reddy to reconsider his decision, acknowledging his extensive political career and experience. Reddy, in an open letter to party members, expressed his inability to continue with the Congress party amidst insults and mental distress. The ongoing conflict with MLA M. Sanjay Kumar and the dissatisfaction over party decisions further fueled Reddy’s resignation.
