Senior DMK leader R.S. Bharathi stated that any future political reconciliation with the Congress is out of the question, emphasizing the complete separation between the two parties. Bharathi made it clear that the DMK cadre would not welcome the Congress back into the alliance, firmly rejecting any speculation about a reunion.
Speaking in Pudukkottai, Bharathi highlighted the absence of any ongoing political ties between the DMK and Congress, dismissing talks of a potential reunion. He stressed that the decision to part ways was final, asserting that grassroots DMK workers would strongly oppose any efforts to revive the alliance, regardless of leadership decisions.
Responding to criticism from Congress leaders on the DMK’s performance and alliance strategies, Bharathi took a dig at Congress leader Manickam Tagore. He suggested that Congress leaders should evaluate their own electoral standing before passing judgment on other parties.
Bharathi also focused on the upcoming local body elections, expressing confidence in the DMK’s organizational capabilities. He challenged political opponents, including BJP leaders, to hold the polls early and prove their popularity at the grassroots level.
Reiterating the DMK’s ideological stance, Bharathi ruled out any future collaboration with the BJP, emphasizing the party’s commitment to Dravidian principles. He criticized the trend of political defections in Tamil Nadu, likening it to an “Aya Ram Gaya Ram” culture, where politicians frequently switch parties for personal gain.
