Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar minister Shivchandra Ram resigned from all his party positions due to not being nominated for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) elections. Ram, who served as the National President of the RJD’s SC/ST Cell, expressed disappointment during a press conference in Patna. He claimed that despite being assured an MLC ticket and dedicating years of service to the party, he was overlooked in favor of another candidate.
The resignation of Shivchandra Ram, a close confidant of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, has highlighted internal discontent within the RJD regarding candidate selection. This move follows the official announcement of Sunil Kumar Singh as the RJD’s candidate for the Legislative Council elections. Singh, expected to secure a second term, submitted his nomination papers on the final day of the process.
Ram’s departure from his organizational roles has sparked fresh political discussions ahead of the elections. His emotional appeal and allegations of unfair treatment have raised questions about the party’s unity. With the nomination phase concluded, observers are keen to see if this internal dissent will impact the RJD’s cohesion leading up to the MLC elections.
