At least seven individuals lost their lives, and approximately 15 others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident in Gujarat’s Surat district. The incident occurred when two Maharashtra State Transport (ST) buses and a tractor collided near Uva-Manekpor village in Bardoli taluka. The collision involved a bus traveling from Dhule to Surat via Navapur, which hit a tractor on the highway, leading it to cross the central divider and crash head-on into another ST bus.
One of the buses, carrying around 25 to 26 passengers, overturned multiple times and caught fire after the collision, eventually rolling down an embankment. Rescue efforts were complicated as passengers were trapped inside the burning vehicle. Authorities have confirmed seven fatalities, with concerns that the death toll may increase due to the severity of injuries among some of the wounded.
Around 15 injured passengers were rescued from the wreckage and promptly taken to various hospitals for medical attention. Emergency response teams are actively assessing the situation, while efforts are underway to identify all passengers on board the buses. Firefighters, police personnel, and ambulance teams swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct a large-scale rescue and relief operation, battling the blaze and evacuating passengers from the damaged vehicles.
The accident resulted in a significant traffic jam on the highway, disrupting vehicular movement for hours as emergency services cleared the area and carried out rescue operations. An investigation has been initiated by the police to determine the precise cause of the tragic accident. Further information is anticipated as authorities gather details about the victims and the events leading up to the crash.
