At least seven individuals, including two children, lost their lives, and 20 others sustained injuries in rain-related incidents in Pakistan’s Punjab province within the last 24 hours. Heavy rains led to house damages and livestock losses, as reported by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The fatalities resulted from drowning and structural collapses, while injuries were due to roof collapses and electrocution, according to local media sources.
In Lahore’s Garhi Shahu Railway Colony, Bobby Plaza, Saggian Pind, and Kahna, three people, including a man, a woman, and a child, were killed, with five others injured in separate roof-collapse incidents. Additionally, in Kasur district, Punjab, two individuals, a man, and a child lost their lives, and three others, including a woman and two children, were injured following a house roof collapse near Adda Dhing Shah.
Tragedy struck in Faisalabad, where a woman perished after a house roof collapsed due to heavy rain, and in Gujranwala, a child drowned in rainwater in fields near Pathan Colony. In Bahawalnagar, three individuals were injured due to a house roof collapse, while another person suffered injuries from an electric pole during the rain.
Further incidents were reported in Sair Bajwa village in Narowal, where two women were injured in a roof-collapse event, and in Darma Wala neighborhood of Sialkot, where a woman sustained injuries from a collapsed house roof. In Nankana Sahib and Sheikhupura, three women were injured in separate roof-collapse incidents. Additionally, two men were injured in Okara after an animal shed collapsed due to heavy rains, as per Dawn reports.
During a press conference, the PDMA Director General disclosed that 22 individuals had lost their lives, and 183 others were injured in rain-related incidents in Punjab. The PDMA had previously reported 20 deaths and 19 injuries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to heavy rains and flash floods, with incidents reported in various regions, including Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, and others.
